What to do with the hate

I read this blogpost and was consumed by this song. I blipped it but there were rather few responses. Since it’s german the audience is a bit smaller than it should be for this is a really great song about how one might feel with all the stuff around us.

Let me just show you the original lyrics of Jochen Distelmeyer’s - Wohin mit dem Hass:

wohin mit dem Hass
den ich in mir spür'
frisst sich wie Rost nach innen
alles was ich weiß

alles was ihr wisst

and my crappy translation, since there might be awkward phrases:

What to do with the hate
that I feel inside of me
eats itself like rust into the inside
all I know is
I am not like you
but what to do with the hate?

do you know the rich and mighty?
let their cars burn
they neither respect nor fear us
so what to do with the hate?

What to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?

What to do with the hate?
if it grows like cancer
grows and can't be killed
come with all the suspicion, that you cherish
and destroy something beautiful

the people in the streets behave like cattle
run along and feel by rules
they are used to it and hate silently on their own
until someone tells them:

What to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?

What to do with the hate?
all the scorn and derision
the envy with which you look at me
all you know is
I am not like you
and it shall be like that forever

so give me your hate and watch me
how I transform it for you
when I'm done, I leave you alone
alone with your hate

What to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?

What to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?
what to do with the hate?

Pretty evil, but true.

Since I really like the video, the message and the music itself, I wanted to write about it. A twitter post or a simple Blip wasn’t enough to explain what I think about it.

Especially the phrase about the rich and mighty ones is pretty striking. We all got to realize that the ones who’re in charge don’t respect us and they don’t fear us. So while all the people hate for themselves, they got nothing to put the hate onto.

While in this song Jochen Distelmeyer claims to be not like you, I would agree with what he’s trying to say. Living and feeling like cattle, bowing to the mass media and the government, all that nourishes the hate of each of the people he’s talking about. So we end up with the some, who flee from this messed up society-thingy on the one hand and the crouching, vegetating mass on the other, which both just share the hate with no target.

All these thoughts are just random. I don’t know if you can follow or understand. But for those of you, who do, even just a tiny little bit: face the facts, although I’d love to dream that

We, the public, should put an end to it.

like Richard Stallman said in a completely different context about the War on sharing, the public just won’t do it.

So in order to make the best out of it, I ask these blinded people to yell and shout at me. I want them to provoke and influence me. In a way I just can say

give me your hate and watch me how I transform it for you
